The St. Sophia School was founded in 2024 by a group of Orthodox parents, clergy, and educators seeking to offer a Christ-centered education that blends Classical, Montessori, and traditional methods. Located on the campus of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, the school opened with students in kindergarten through fourth grade and has since expanded to include fifth grade, with plans to grow to a full TK–8 program by 2028. With a focus on small class sizes, spiritual formation, and academic excellence, The St. Sophia is the first Orthodox day school in the Charlotte area and serves families from a range of Orthodox and Christian backgrounds.
